Ormco offers a web-based software application to enable orthodontists to design, order, and approve the custom braces. Customers needed a one-stop shop for deploying their app and keeping it running. The existing application had outgrown it’s design and Ormco partnered with Onica (and its sister companies, Usability.Pro and NetBrains) to rebuild, deploy, and manage a modern web application from the ground up, designed to leverage AWS.

Helped design processes that ensured the reliable generation of deployment artifacts

Onica was instrumental in leading the customer from a previous generation architecture to a new, modern stack, and from shared hosting to AWS. The Onica team introduced DevOps concepts into Ormco and helped design processes that ensured the reliable generation of deployment artifacts and the promotion of those artifacts through deployment stages. The environment designed and deployed by Onica utilizes CloudFormation for infrastructure automation and Elastic Beanstalk for application deployment and management. Sturdy also deployed and configured monitoring and automated recovery techniques (via Auto Scaling groups and ELB) to keep the application continuously available. Onica now serves as Ormco’s operations center, 24-7-365.
